International Missions

Image No Malaria

The Texas Annual Conference has partnered with the United Methodist Church to raise $75 million to eliminate malaria deaths in Africa by 2015.  In partnership with our brothers and sisters in Africa, the gifts and resources shared through Imagine No Malaria will empower an entire continent to achieve a sustainable victory over the disease.  We will accomplish this goal together with a comprehensive approach to fighting malaria that includes improving prevention, education, communication and treatment.

Heifer International

Heifer International's mission is to work with communities to end hunger and poverty and care for the earth.  With gifts of livestock and training, families improve their nutrition and generate income in sustainable ways.  Animals are referred to as "living loans" because in exchange for their livestock and training, families agree to give one of its animal's offspring to another family in need.  It's called Passing on the Gift - a cornerstone of the mission that creates an ever-expanding network of hope and peace.  During the Season of Advent, Holy Covenant helps to provide livestock, seeds, or training to a family struggling with hunger and poverty.

Peru
Holy Covenant is forming a partnership with La Igeslia Metodista of Peru. This summer, 2011, Holy Covenant is sending a team to serve alongside the people of La Iglesia Metodista of Azapampa, a small town near the Andean city of Huancayo. If you are looking for ways to support the people of Peru, please contact Rev. Stephanie Lind. The team will be collecting gently used winter clothing for children. The team will be in Huancayo June 10th-18th, 2011. Watch for the Blog.

Sewing Ministry: Dress-A-Girl Around the World
This ministry allows people with the gifts of sewing to spread the love of God around the world, one dress at a time.  People gather to sew together and on their own, to provide the clothing for girls around the world.  For more information about this ministry, see this website: http://www.dressagirlaroundtheworld.com/ or contact the church office at 281.579.1200.

ZOE Ministry, Empowering Orphans in Africa

During the Lenten season, Holy Covenant partners with ZOE Ministry to nurture orphans in essential life skills, enabling them to move from poverty to self-sufficiency in two to three years.  The Orphan Empowerment Project includes training and resources in farming, animal husbandry, business, health and hygiene, HIV/AIDS prevention, housing, education, and child rights.  ZOE's distinctive approach to ministry with these children goes beyond traditional charity to genuine empowerment, transforming lives for generations.
